Whether you already have an ecommerce portal up and running, plan on starting one or are just beginning to consider the idea, it never hurts to do a quick tune-up and evaluate exactly what it is your online presence needs to succeed.

Jack G. Hardy, of the Miami Herald, has some tips for experienced or aspiring etailers. He recommends that all online merchants examine their websites objectively and ask themselves if their internet presence matches their real-world persona and values. Does the website have personality? Does it communicate the brand message? Is it consistent with the message you'd give customers in a brick-and-mortar store?

Hardy goes on to advise online merchants to spend a little extra time examining the design and navigation of the site.

"The process leading from shopping cart to payment can be a problem," he writes. "So check the process from beginning to end. Some customers can be easily confused, and that means lost sales."

There's no doubt that an ecommerce site must have a trustworthy ecommerce payment provider in order to win over customers and protect their personal information from would-be criminals and thieves.
