As payments become more mobile, so does shopping - and new figures reveal that ecommerce could explode over the next few years as more and more customers become accustomed to paying with credit and debit cards, or even with their mobile phones.
Not having an ecommerce site puts vendors at a major disadvantage these days. They miss out on the millions of customers who prefer to shop online than fight the crowds on the high street, and their reputations slide when they can't provide customers with an easy, convenient way to shop from home or on the go. According to Juniper Research, about 100 million people currently use mobile money services to shop - a figure that could rise to 200 million by 2013, Hostway reports.
Additionally, comScore recently revealed that US internet spending figures rose by 11 per cent in the final quarter of last year. American etailers took in £27 million via online sales during that same period.
Offering mobile and online shopping options for customers is quickly becoming a necessity, rather than an option, for retailers. Stay ahead of the curve by launching an ecommerce platform with a reliable online payment service before your rivals do.
