Clothing retailer Gap has aggressively expanded its online offerings in Europe of late, and Shopsafe.co.uk says the company has benefited from having safe and secure online payment gateways.
"Gap has not just been spreading quickly in Europe, as it has harnessed the powers and convenience of safe shopping online to enhance its presence in 90 countries. Just a year ago it was only able to ship goods to consumers in 25 nations, which should show you just how much of a contrast has been made by its progress in the ecommerce market," Chris Thompson writes for Shopsafe.
Additionally, the company's head of European operations, Stephen Sunnucks, told Shopsafe a website redesign for its U.K. site had proved to be a winner, provoking an enthusiastic response from online shoppers and partially prompting the emphasis on aggressive expansion in Europe.
Online retailers whose payment service providers are known to be safe tend to enjoy a better reputation, and increased sales compared to those which have suffered a security breach.
