Domino's Pizza UK and Ireland reported a 62.9 percent increase in sales over the first 13 weeks of the fiscal year in 2011. Ecommerce purchases now account for 39.3 percent of delivered sales, as opposed to 28.8 percent at this time last year, Internet Retailing reports.
"We are glad to be reporting a good performance in the UK, where like-for-like gross sales were up 7.8 percent in the first 13 weeks," Chris Moore, Domino's chief executive, told the news source.
One prominent factor in Domino's ecommerce growth has been the success of its online Pizza Tracker. This software is specifically engineered to keep consumers up-to-date on the status of their order, from the moment it's prepared to the second it leaves the store, notes Boating Industry.
Domino's recently integrated Facebook during this year's NCAA men's basketball tournament, with the launch of its Domino's Pizza Bracket. Different styles of the company's pizza are placed in regions that are appropriate to various toppings, and fans vote to advance their favorites. The Pizza Tracker also received a March Madness makeover.
