E-Commerce businesses have advised customers to donate to Japan over the internet, according to Retail Gazette, after the country experienced an 8.9 earthquake this month. Processing online payments can be safer than messaging a donation. In addition, funds go directly to a recognized organization through its official website.
Large online retailers, such as Amazon and eBay, have posted links to charity organizations accepting credit cards on the sites. The Red Cross is one of those groups, and the news source said any funds collected will mobilise more than 700 doctors and medical staff already in Japan.
Other organisations supplying shelter items, food and rescue aid will use the funds as well. CNN Money said the U.S. Red Cross received $64 million in donations, seven days after the natural disaster.
In the UK donations are also increasing. The British Red Cross has collected more than £200,000 at their Paisley offices, the Paisley Daily Express highlighted. A staff of 80 volunteers has been busy processing the funds, which have been submitted via courier or by online payment.
Accepting credit cards online can be an efficient system to increase business revenues or support charitable missions.
