Business Gateway, a Scotland-based service that offers free business advice and support, recently helped a former oil company employee achieve her dream of starting a website, according to the Paisley Daily Express.
Kim McCann, a Meikleriggs, Scotland native, created planettots.com, an all-encompassing site for new parents that offers clothing and skincare for toddlers, directories for baby activity classes, modern family friendly recipes and more, notes the news source.
The concept impressed Allan Blackley, an advisor at Business Gateway, who noted that McCann had no prior experience running her own company, and was able to use his firm's knowledge as a resource.
"She took advantage of our free workshops to pick up additional skills that she now uses in the day-to-day running of the business," Blackley told the news source.
Through the business support service, McCann was able to acquire leads and contacts as well as bounce ideas off team members.
Her new business will offer baby yoga, baby massage, an organic cafe and other kiddie products, which McCann currently sells on weekends at farmers' markets.
