Global event ticketing company Ticketmaster recently announced it has added increased ecommerce functionality to its U.K. website.

The revamped site offers a number of new features, including a "basket" function and the ability to purchase merchandise alongside tickets. Products that will be sold include music, DVDs, books, catalogues and programs, the company said.

Customers who choose to purchase merchandise along with their tickets will receive an email with a unique code and web address that can then be used to redeem the product.

"Ticketmaster.co.uk is already the most popular destination for live entertainment tickets, but our clients want to be able to offer their consumers more than just a ticket to events," said Ticketmaster U.K. managing director Chris Edmonds.

According to Edmonds, "this is the latest in a number of important ecommerce initiatives that we intend to deliver to benefit our clients and consumers alike."

Ticketmaster currently has operations in 19 countries. The company is a subsidiary of Live Nation Entertainment, which also owns Live Nation Concerts, Front Line Management and Live Nation Network.
