In a recent ByteStart report, ecommerce expert Dale Cook offered a number of tips for organizations looking to make their ecommerce initiatives more effective.
According to Cook, one key factor that helps attract customers - and ensure that they stay - involves fostering confidence in the site's security. When users are paying for their purchases online through a payment gateway, they wish to know that their financial details will not be left vulnerable to misuse.
Cook noted that some sites, though secure, do not make this fact clear to their customers. Doing so, he claimed, may help enhance an ecommerce business.
Another important ingredient for an effective ecommerce business, according to Cook, is high quality sales copy. This includes making headlines both informative and enticing, as well as focusing on the benefit of a product to customers.
"The copy on your website is your chance to communicate with customers," Cook wrote. "It will either influence people to buy from you or make them look for your competitors."
There are many other strategies that can be used to enhance ecommerce websites. According to a recent Econsultancy report, online shopping businesses may be able to use tactics from supermarket psychology to improve their sites' profitability.
