While the worldwide ecommerce market continues to thrive, Lee Vann, founder and CEO of Captura Group, said many retailers are not taking advantage of the large Spanish-speaking market.

Basing his conclusion off a comScore study, which revealed the U.S. Hispanic online market has grown significantly from May 2010 to May 2011. The Hispanic bilingual, Hispanic Spanish and Hispanic English markets increased 21, 17 and 12 percent, respectively during this time.

Although Vann said ecommerce companies should not develop Spanish websites strictly for this group of consumers, they should reach out and establish advertising campaigns through social media, developing some Spanish content and establish customer support.

"As Hispanics become more comfortable and trusting of the internet, they will also explore retail websites to research and purchase products," wrote Vann.

Worldwide, more shoppers are using online payment gateways to complete purchases and, as a result, spending is expected to increase significantly for online shopping. Joanne Bethlamy, director of the internet business solutions group at Cisco, told Practical Ecommerce that global ecommerce will reach $1.4 trillion by 2015.
