With the success of ecommerce worldwide, companies may be able to increase their sales even more by targeting students, according to a recent report by the ecommerce review website Zippy Cart.
Since the global economy continues to recover and high gas prices remain, sales through online payment gateways could be turned up, especially with students returning to school.
"Analysts are reporting that more parents and students may be turning to online stores to get their supplies and clothing instead of venturing out to local retailers," said the Zippy Cart report.
In fact, the National Retail Federation expects 15.3 percent of consumers to increase their online spending this year for grades K through 12.
"Retailers understand consumers are extremely focused on value and are taking this opportunity to offer substantial savings on merchandise," said NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay.
While ecommerce companies may stand to benefit with increased sales from students heading back to school, startups entering the market are demanding higher valuations than other industries, according a recent LiveMint.com report.
