According to a new study of nearly 1,000 retailers by Shopatron, retail-integrated ecommerce generates more sales.

Overall, 62 percent of companies said incremental sales from their retail-integrated ecommerce platform have increased their revenue.

"In a similar 2009 survey, 51 percent of participating dealers said they would reduce buying from brands that sell direct to consumers," the company said in a press release. "In 2011, that number jumped 13 points to 64 percent."

Of those retailers surveyed, 46 percent indicated they purchase more products from brands that send orders generated online. Furthermore, 36 percent of respondents said they sell more of a certain brand in their traditional stores after increasing their online stock, according to the study.

Along with the U.S. market, U.K. ecommerce continues to thrive as more shoppers purchase products through online payment gateways. According to the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index, the U.K. ecommerce industry increased by 19 percent in the first half of the year, reaching £31.5 billion.
