According to a recent Media Post report, a new advertising platform using photos in online magazines and websites may help boost consumer activity for ecommerce companies.
Stipple's ad platform turns still images into ecommerce storefronts, which reveal pricing, brand names and links to allow consumers to buy the products or to save the information, the report stated. This new ad campaign has generated 25 million page hits in 30 days.
"The tool lets consumers discover the brand's name and buy the product through the photo," Stipple CEO Rey Flemings told Media Post. "If you can start an AdWords campaign, you can start a campaign in Stipple. It's a performance-based platform."
Flemings also told the news provider that ecommerce brands only pay when consumers visit the online store. By not tagging their products in photos, companies lose millions of dollars in potential revenue, the report stated.
One ecommerce market that does not appear to be slowing is the United Kingdom. According to a recent study by eMarketer, online spending in the region is expected to reach nearly £62 billion this year, growing from the nearly £56 billion spent in 2010.
