According to a recent survey conducted by Postcode Anywhere, nearly two-thirds of U.K. consumers believe delivery time is an important or very important aspect of their online shopping experience.
Of the 1,000 consumers, 35 percent of participants said delivery times are very important and, according to the research, 54 percent of these respondents are women. Nearly 60 percent of the survey respondents who said delivery times are not important were men.
"The one thing we can clearly take away from this study is how critical it is to get deliveries right," said Guy Mucklow, managing director of Postcode Anywhere. "In ecommerce, it can be all-too easy to focus only on making your website more efficient, while leaving the actual delivery of your goods in the hands of the Gods."
The U.K. ecommerce industry continues to thrive. According to a study conducted by eMarketer, consumers are expected to spend nearly £63 billion through online payment gateways this year. By 2015, this amount is projected to surpass £88 billion, increasing at an annual compound growth rate of 9.4 percent from 2010.
