Tesco, the U.K.-based grocer and hypermarket retailer, recently announced it will also offer a clothing brand online to an international consumer base. Clothingattesco.com will offer delivery across European Union countries and is set to launch in early October.
Tesco expects its private clothing label F&F to help drive initial online sales to consumers in the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, where the brand has local stores. France and Spain are also expected to produce large numbers of consumers shopping on the site, as many British-born customers relocated to those countries.
“Our loyal online following tells us they want to be able to buy fashionable, good value clothes from us and have them sent outside the U.K.,” said Jill Easterbrook, clothing director of Tesco.
Gripoix, a vintage costume jewellery brand, has also recently launched an e-commerce site set to debut in the U.K. soon. Myflashtrash.com will sell hand-made pieces that the retailer is known for. Designers such as Chanel, Yves Saint-Laurent and Tom Ford have selected the e-commerce site to be their only online U.K. retailer.
