A new study from KPMG found U.K. consumers are adopting technology faster than shoppers elsewhere around the globe, with the use of social media and online shopping more widespread in the U.K. than in other parts of the world.

The report found 74 percent of U.K. consumers are more likely to buy flights and vacations online, compared to 70 percent globally; and 77 percent prefer to purchase CDs, DVDs, books and video games online, compared to 65 percent globally.

In addition, 45 percent of U.K. consumers use their mobile devices to find deals at retailers near them, 32 percent use their devices to research products and services, 30 percent use them to obtain online coupons and 19 percent use them to scan barcodes for product information.

According to Reuters, the increased use of mcommerce sites and mobile devices is giving U.K. retailers new options to reach consumers and create brand awareness. Retailers can create mcommerce apps to cater to the growing population of mobile consumers, as mobile shopping becomes more mainstream this holiday shopping season.
