Retail expert Claire Hughes from Llanfairfechan, Wales, is about to launch an online class specifically designed for creative people in business. The course will train people to market their creative products online, to take advantage of the growing population of online shoppers throughout the U.K.
Hughes told North Wales Weekly that there are many talented artisans in the U.K., but consumers do not know about their handmade products. Hughes wants to improve the visibility of these creative people and their products through online marketing and ecommerce initiatives. She wants to train these entrepreneurs and shop owners with the best practices for launching an ecommerce site and successfully marketing products to digital shoppers.
Another niche market expanding to the online sphere is the bicycle industry. Bike Biz recently interviewed the owners of small bicycle retail shops throughout the U.K. who have collaborated and expanded their consumer base through an ecommerce site. Four British bicycle retailers have teamed up to sell their stocks together from a consolidated online store, similar to but more market-specific than eBay.
The source reported The Gorilla Firm, Going Going Bike, Bikesoup and Bicycles for Sale decided to develop the niche online store for bicycle shoppers to meet a need in the ecommerce industry. Retailers selling bikes on eBay often find it hard to get their products noticed by consumers because of the vast number of other items being auctioned. But creating a website that specifically sells high-quality bicycles can attract specific consumers and help small retailers find new customers.
